Intake consultations
Intake consultations entail meeting with parents/caregivers and discussing all areas of concern regarding your child's development and scholastic achievement. A full developmental and scholastic history will be taken and the assessment and/or intervention process will be discussed. Intake consultations typically last 60 minutes.
Home and school visits
Home and school visits are an optional part of the assessment process, but are extremely valuable to provide a holistic understanding of your child in different contexts.
Home visits allow me to observe a typical day in your family's life, which provides greater insight regarding where certain problems or behaviours arise and how best to address them.
School visits allow me to observe your child in the classroom, and provide insight into when and how learning difficulties or challenging behaviours occur.
Assessment
Depending on your child's specific needs and the assessment goal, a comprehensive assessment battery is compiled to assess your child's strengths and difficulties across various domains. Standard assessments generally include cognitive abilities, scholastic performance, visual-motor integration, auditory perception and screening for ADHD and specific learning disabilities.
Feedback
During the feedback session, the results of the assessment are explained in order to provide meaningful insights about your child's abilities, preferences, strengths and areas of difficulty. The most important part of the feedback session is the developmental of an action plan, entailing collaboration between home, school and other professionals, to ensure every child receives optimal support to grow and develop to their full potential.
